A Day of Letterpress Printing

Working in a different medium altogether can lead to new ways of thinking about ones artwork. I had just such a day printing at Hamilton Wood Type Museum this past Saturday.

Hamilton is a museum dedicated to the preservation and study of wood type in Two Rivers, Wisconsin. It is a treasure trove of all things letterpress and a very fun place to spend a day.

The gorgeous, large wood type was available for use during this particular workshop.

Each participant had their own work station with a press and palette.

My press set up and ready for a print run.

letterpress prints spread out to dry

My wood type prints are now drying at my house.

I plan to draw in the negative space on these prints and will share some images of the finished work at a later date.
