Turner paintings at the Smithsonian and working small

Three_Turner_Paintings_Smithsonian.jpg

This photo was taken on a visit to the Smithsonian a few years ago. I found these small seascapes by J.M.W. Turner so captivating and love the way they look in the wide frames. It inspired me to do some smaller mixed media works like this one which I posted a few days ago.

Not long ago I purchased a bund of small canvases and have started a series of daily paintings, purely for my own practice.

Maybe I’ll sell the paintings. Maybe they will never leave the studio. My commitment for now is that they will be a place of practice.
